Apple vs. Amazon vs. Macmillian — Begun These e-Book Wars Have?

This is not good for those of us who thought that $9.99 was already too high for ebooks, DRM or no.  DRM’ed ebooks should be $4.99 TOPS, and DRM-free ebooks (like the O’Reilly “Using Drupal” book I just bought) should go for LESS THAN $9.99.

Okay, you can make the case for technical books going higher than $9.99 (“Using Drupal” normally retails for $34 in DRM-free ebook form, which is ridiculous, but I bought it for $9.99 as their “Deal of the Day”).

Still, publishing houses, like music labels before them, don’t get that they can’t just set any unreasonable price they want and just expect consumers to pay it.
